Grandma Bessie's 80th Birthday Party!

Tonight we celebrated my Grandma Bessie's 80th birthday! We celebrated a few weeks early so all of her kids could get home over the longer weekend of Thanksgiving. She and my grandpa are special people, for sure, and very admired and respected by all of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends! We just celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday last winter, so we are thankful to have been able to share in this milestone for both of them this year!

Thanksgiving with the Duvall Side

This year, we broke all Thanksgiving traditions and traveled to Omaha for Thanksgiving with Jeff's parents and brother. Jeff's mom and brother work there, so they have an apartment there (even though Lorraine's permanent home is in Cherokee with Jeff's dad - which is where we normally go to celebrate the holiday with Jeff's side of the family). We stayed at a hotel (a very nice one, by the way) with a pool so the boys could enjoy some swimming time, and they loved every minute of it! The main Thanksgiving tradition that we broke this year was NO turkey and all the fixin's for dinner...we ate at a Chinese buffet instead! It was SO GOOD that we didn't feel one bit bad about missing out on turkey this year! :) Jeff's parents also took us to the Children's Museum which was very neat! It is a very hands-on place, so that was right up the boys' alley! It was so wonderful to get out of town for a bit, and the boys enjoy any vacation they can get!

Guests at Logan's 6th Birthday Party

Logan's 6th Birthday Party!

Today was an exciting day for Logan, because, even though his birthday isn't until Monday, he had his birthday party and presents tonight! He started off the evening with a pretty naughty attitude, fueled by all of his excitement. By later, however, his attitude improved quite a lot and he had a great party! He was spoiled with MANY gifts (and I'm sure I'll forget some): money, pajamas, a Paper Jamz guitar, NEAT farm set, Legos, Chutes and Ladders, a Christmas movie, toy airplane, Nerf cross bow, and his favorite gift of all - a bicycle that looks like a Moto-cross bike! It was the only thing in the world that he wanted! In the pictures you may see training wheels on the bike, but Logan has long outgrown training wheels...we just didn't have time to take them off before giving it to him! Logan was very pleased with all of his loot, and will turn around and get even more in a month when Christmas rolls around! I can't believe I have a 6-year-old (well, on Monday I will)! I am amazed at how he has grown so fast and learned so much over the years! Though he challenges me at times, I am so thankful to have him and we love him so much!

First Snow of the Winter!

Well, after some very nice weather this fall, we finally got our first snow of the winter last night! Unfortunately, the boys knew this snow was on its way, and I'm pretty sure all of the anticipation has been making them naughty! :) The little stinkers were up at 4:30 (yes, AM), saw the snow, and started BEGGING us to take them outside to play. Finally, at 7:00, Jeff gave in and took them out. I'm pretty sure they built the first area snowman of the season as well, because they had one built by 8:00 AM! I think it's going to be a loooong day at our house! I don't think this snow will stick around too long with temps forcasted to warm up a bit, but we have a lot of winter ahead of us! Hopefully snowy days don't always start at 4:30 in the morning for us this year!
