Logan and Landon's First Wrestling Meet

Today, Logan and Landon entered their first wrestling tournament, which happened to be the Okoboji home tournament. Both boys went out for wrestling when they were really little (like Pre-K and kindergarten), had a bad experience with coaches, took some years off, and decided to give it another try this year. The coaches are wonderful, and we are so glad they are giving wrestling another shot.

Landon wrestled in the 3rd/4th grade division. He finished 3rd out of 3 in his bracket, but really did an amazing job! And I'm not just saying that because I'm his mom! :) He really made each kid work hard! As Jeff put it, "Landon won the matches (meaning he was winning point-wise throughout each match), but ended up getting pinned in the end." Come to find out, AFTER he had wrestled all of his matches, the people forming brackets at the tournament accidentally switched Logan and Landon's weights around, so Landon was wrestling kids who had an extra 20 pound on him! Had he wrestled kids his own weight, we've no doubt he would have placed higher, but nonetheless, we are proud of this guy!

Logan also did a WONDERFUL job! He won his first match of his wrestling career, and although he did not win any of his other matches, he really is a tough guy who never gives up! He gave each opponent a run for their money! Logan placed 4th out of 5 boys in his bracket!

Win or lose, all that matters is that these boys had fun today, and they LEARNED while doing it! Way to go boys! We are so proud of you!!
