Hawkeye Football Game: Winding Down Our Trip After a Hawkeye Win!

After watching the Hawkeyes beat the UNI Panthers, we bought the boys some souvenirs from Herky's Locker Room.  Actually, Grandma and Grandpa Umscheid gave each of the boys some money to spend on something "Hawkeye" from the game, so the boys were spending their gift money from them.  Each boy bought a Hawkeye football at the game, then, when we got back to the train station at Coralville, they each bought a Hawkeye wallet.  Then it was time to catch some supper and head to our hotel.  The boys had fun swimming at the hotel to end our fun-filled weekend.  Logan said he wished we could do this every time the Hawkeyes played...we wish we could too.  We promised them we would try to go to at least one football game per year now!  We are also going to try to catch a Hawkeye wrestling meet this winter, and make that a winter tradition as well!

Hawkeye Football Game: Let's Go HAWKS!!

I would say that Kinnick Stadium looks like a big place from the outside, but you don't realize just how big it is until you get inside!  The boys and I were blown away!  Our seats were actually on the UNI Panther's side, but we sat by mostly Hawkeye fans.  We were on the side of the end zone, only 12 rows up...GREAT seats!  We were very close to where the marching band sits and had a good view of the game the whole time!  The bright sun was a little much to handle at times, but overall we can't complain about our seats a bit!  I would rather deal with sunshine than rain at a football game any day!  Anyhow, all 4 of us agree that the absolute BEST part about this whole Hawkeye trip was the excitement and adrenaline when the Hawkeyes SWARMED the field!  I can't even describe it, but get goosebumps just thinking about it!  That feeling, for all of us, was worth the price of admission right there!  And to top it all off, we got to see a HAWKEYE VICTORY!!
View from our seats!  LOVED watching the marching band!

Here comes Herky, with the Hawkeyes close behind!

Getting ready to SWARM the field!!!

I-O-W-A Flags!

We sat very close to the band, so we heard all their songs great!

Hawkeye Football Game: At Kinnick, Before the Game

When we arrived at Kinnick, the boys realized just how BIG this crowd was going to be!  We walked around and saw what all was going on.  The boys stopped in the Kid Zone and Landon played a few games.  Our favorite part of pre-game was watching the Iowa Drum Line, and watching the band make it's way into the stadium!  That got us pumped up and excited for sure!

It was all of our first time going to Kinnick!

Children of the corn?  LOL!

Watching the Hawkeye Drum Line!  This was so cool!

Waiting to see the marching band head into the stadium!

Catching some shade for a bit and watching all the crazy Hawkeye fans!

First glance at Herky and they could have reached out and touched him!

Here comes the band!

Front row seat to watch the band march by!  We were pretty pumped up for the game after watching this!

Hawkeye Football Game: Getting to the Game

Jeff and I were fortunate enough to be able to take our boys to their very FIRST Hawkeye Football Game this year (it was my first game as well)!  We decided to make the most of this experience for them, so we went to Coralville so they could ride the Hawkeye Express Train to and from the game.  They thought it was absolutely COOL to ride a real train!
Waiting for the train to arrive!

The Hawkeye Express

Excited and nervous to ride the train!  We saw some CRAZY fans boarding as well!

Ready to get to KINNICK!
