Ben and Alyssa's Wedding Reception - 2

Ben and Alyssa's Wedding Reception

Last night, we celebrated my brother and sister-in-law's marriage (which took place last March when they eloped in Lake Tahoe) by having their wedding reception for friends and family. The night was filled with great food and lots of dancing! Logan has been worried for 2 weeks about having to dance, and, while he was pretty picky about his dance partners, he boogied most of the night away! Landon, on the other hand, told me all along that he would dance, but it was like pulling teeth to get him to dance at all (of course, he wasn't feeling well, either). Landon was only looking forward to dancing the hokey-pokey, so when that song came on, he hit the dance floor without a problem! LOL! After a long night, both boys, as well as Jeff and I, have been recuperating by lounging on the couch, watching movies, and taking naps! We had a great night in celebration of a great couple!

My Grandparent's 60th Wedding Anniversary!

Today, all of my Umscheid extended family celebrated a very special event! As of November 18, my grandparents have been married for 60 years! Wow! What an accomplishment! There was a community reception from 2:00-4:00, and MANY people came to wish my grandpa and grandma congratulations and best wishes! After that, we had a family supper. After supper, my Uncle Dan gave some family tree books/posters to all of his siblings and to my grandma and grandpa. He worked a long time on tracing our family ancestry and created quite piece of memorabilia for the family! That will be something to treasure forever! I wish my grandparents a wonderful anniversary and thank them for being such great role models, both in marriage and in character.

Logan's Birthday - Some of his Presents

The Empty Box - see the funny story below! :)

Boy, did Logan get A LOT of nice presents for his 7th birthday! He got lots of Star Wars and Transformers stuff, a DVD player for his bedroom, with several movies, money, and the list goes on! The funny story about his presents goes like this: On his actual birthday (Nov. 22), Jeff and I let him open his presents from us since his party wasn't until the next night. He was having a blast opening them and was down to his last one. When he opened it, he found an EMPTY box! I must be losing my mind, because I actually accidentally wrapped an empty box! I didn't mean to...not even for a joke...I HATE wrapping presents and would NEVER have wrapped an extra one that didn't need to be wrapped...but it turned out pretty darn funny! If I could have captured the look on his face...LOL! So, to be funny, my mom wrapped a box for him to open on his party night with nothing in it but a note that said "Ha, Ha!" He didn't find that any funnier than the first empty box he opened! :) Now, I think I almost have to make it a tradition to wrap one empty box a year for him to open on his bday! I still chuckle just remembering his reaction!

Logan's Birthday Party with Friends!

We had a lot of fun celebrating Logan's birthday today with a few of his closest friends! This is the first year that he has asked us to have a "friend" birthday party (we usually just celebrate with family), so, with Logan's birthday being this coming Tuesday, we thought today it would be fun to take him and his friends to Boji Splash for an afternoon of swimming! When we asked him who he wanted to invite (he could only choose 4 people), he chose the 4 people that he has known his whole life, practically. Caden and Jase, Grace, and Amy (all kids he's been to daycare with since they were all babies)! Amy couldn't make it to the swimming party due to her own family birthday party, but Caden, Jase, and Grace were able to come join Logan and Landon for the fun! They swam, and swam, and then swam some more! They had a blast, but should sleep well tonight after all of that swimming! Now we have a couple more days to get through before Logan's actual birthday (Nov. 22) and then his family birthday party will be the next day (Nov. 23). Gosh! What a busy and lucky birthday boy! His birthday celebration is almost turning into a week-long event!
