Clay County Fair Time!

Here are lots of pictures of the fun we had today at the annual Clay County Fair!  The boys' favorites always include the tractors (because they can get on them and pretend to drive them), the farm animals, and the model train station.  Of course, we always enjoy some food that we don't get to eat very regularly, too. Today's favorites were fried pickle chips and strawberry smoothies!  Yum!  The boys are looking forward to going back to the fair next Friday for more food and some time to ride the carnival rides!
Logan by his favorite antique tractor.

Landon couldn't choose his favorite between these two, so he wanted his picture with BOTH!

They are getting so big!  I take this picture of the boys every year, and they used to be able to STAND in the tire!  Now they have to sit!

Logan's 1st Tackle Football Game!

Yesterday I was finally able to see Logan play in his first tackle football game!!  Ever since we signed Logan up for football last spring, I have been going back and forth in my mind with how this was going to go with my shy boy who is FULL of anxiety in new or unfamiliar situations.  Would he make it through the season without wanting to quit?  Would he be able to remember the plays and learn the rules?  Would he be tough enough?  All these questions that had been going through my mind all summer have finally been answered! Yes!  He will make it through the season...he LOVES this game!  He knows the plays and the rules!  He is not only tough enough...he is a BEAST and he did AWESOME!  His whole team did awesome and looked like they work well together and have fun together...really all that matters!  To make it even sweeter, they won 36-18 against Algona!  Way to go, Okoboji Maroon Team!!  I'm now at ease and looking very much forward to the rest of this football season!  Win or lose, these boys are fun to watch!

Look at the GIANT Logan was up against during this game!  That's Logan on the left...about a foot shorter than the guy he is blocking!  LOL!

Go Hawkeyes!

This past weekend, we took our 2nd annual trip to Kinnick stadium to watch our Hawkeyes!  This year, we asked my parents to join us for the fun so they, too, could experience the adrenaline rush of a Hawkeye game in person!  It was mighty HOT, making us all a little less patient, but we still had a ton of fun!  The boys were super excited to ride the Hawkeye Express train from Coralville to the stadium...one of their favorite parts of the trip!  Once we got to the stadium, the boys enjoyed the Kidzone and got a free t-shirt, we found some shade for a bit, walked part of the campus and saw the tail end of the Hawkeye team entering the stadium from their bus, got a little bite to eat, watched the Hawkeye drum line perform, and watched the band march into the stadium...ALL before the game even started!!  Once inside Kinnick we were pretty hot for the first half of the game, but Grandpa Mick (my dad) saved the day by treating us all to some lemonade slushies to help us cool off.  By the second half of the game, our seats were very enjoyable in the shade!  The game didn't turn out how we had hoped as we lost by 3, but we are still proud of our team!  Aside from the fun of the game experience, we also enjoyed a few nights at a hotel with a pool (quite refreshing after such a hot day) and meals a restaurants we don't typically get to eat at back at home!  Even better about this little trip is that, because it's Labor Day weekend, we have an extra day off to recover from all of our fun!  We hope to make this trip an annual thing!
Getting ready to board the Hawkeye Express!

On the train, on our way to the game!
